Yes, you’re reading that right. Since the beginning of last year fanny packs has managed to sneak into fashion shows, in an increasing quantity, in major designer labels for both men’s and women’s fashion. A few brands like Channel, Givenchy, Tory Burch, Michael Kors, to name a few, have all come out with their own versions of fanny packs in their latest collections. Making their way in the runway and on celebrities here and there, however, didn’t quite translate as popular in the real world until now. Labeled as one of the most unfashionable accessories, meant for the lazy souls, fanny packs – or bum bags, have gotten majorly revamped.

Fanny packs have the major advantage of being a very practical accessory. And if you can make practicality and fashion meet (rarely a possibility), why not? So when I saw that the new fanny packs in question are more like a prettier relative of the original, it got me intrigued.

Below you will see a few more versions of this now fashion-forward statement bag. Including a big fan of it, Rihanna, wearing them.

But, if you are like me and find them still a little… awkward and not being able to shake away the mind frame that they are just not cool, then you are not alone and I have something that might change your mind and help not break the bank at the same time!

We all know Etsy, the website full of little handmade treasures. It’s an addictive website – from furniture to skin care, everything there is handmade with a true organic feel. And it was on Etsy that I found a couple variations that got my hand itching to reach for my credit card – and it doesn’t hurt that you get to support an independent producer with their unique creations! From sporty to ruffly or just plain badass there is one out there for everyone!
