Review
I like thick lip balms that protect my lips from my nightly ac, below zero situation. Otherwise, I wake up to my lips feeling like the sahara desert. Add to that my passion for matte lipsticks and it starts getting painful!
It took me years searching for the HG lip balm until I found this one. I tried Josie Maran, Rituals, La Roche Posay, Avene, Neutrogena etc… They either failed completely or had aspect that failed my picky testing such as bad taste, messy packaging, low longevity and so on!
The Nuxe one, I had my eyes on it for a long time until I decided to go to Sephora and buy it. But when I got there… the saleswoman convinced me to buy the Josie Maran Argan Oil one instead, that although very slippery and moist, it barely lasted on my lips and I was regretful for not getting what I originally wanted.
Finally I did, and although it gained HG status, there are ups and downs.
It’s not attractive. If you apply a thick layer of this, your lips won’t look juicy and pink. Nope! They will look odd and yellowed.
It has a grainy texture. Because of the high honey content, as you can see in the ingredients list on the bottom of this post, if you don’t wear it often, the outer layer that gets in contact with air becomes grainy. I’m sure honey/syrup lovers know what I’m talking about!
It’s not the moist kind. If you are looking for the type of balm that gives slip to your lips, this isn’t the one, it is matte and thick. But indeed a great base for lipstick as it helps cover up excessive lip wrinkles!
It really is multi-functional! I hadn’t realized until I read it on the website, but this little balm is wonderful for cuticles.
It smells delish! I hate honey scents, so I thought I would hate this lip balm. Nope! For some reason, to me anyway, it smells just like a lemon tart/pie. Yum!
Effects
As you can see, it made a huge difference. I woke up the next morning with the dead skin loose and gone. After one more application, my lips were baby smooth!
