I’m pale as a ghost, and although I’m very happy with the shade of my skin, I love a little extra color on my legs. I had been thinking about buying a self tanner and when I saw this product at Sephora, I decided to go ahead and buy it!

My first time applying this was a complete mess, I used a silicone glove and I ended with tanner on my arm and back and I have no idea how.

St. Tropez GloveThis time was a bit easier and I give credit to their glove that was finally in stock again. It’s very easy and practical to spread with it afterwards you just soap it up a bit and wash it off and you are good and stain free!

Anyway onto the tanner review!

What The Brand Claims

For our most iconic, natural and healthy looking tan, the newly formulated, lightweight, classic mousse tailors to your individual skin tone, for our longest-lasting tan in one application.

No self tan smell with our new mood-boosting fragrance. It’s true it doesn’t have the typical tanner scent, but it doesn’t have a good smell, it’s a bit chemically but not very noticeable.

Streak-free and easy to apply. This might be my problem, but I still haven’t really figured out how to apply it perfectly. I still have odd splotches here and there on my legs, but the mousse does spread easily, just do it quick and make sure your skin is moisturized before.

Quick-drying and non-sticky, with no transfer. True! It dries almost immediately and there’s barely any transfer. Your bedding will not be stained!

Ultra-hydrating with even fade. I wouldn’t call it hydrating, but it doesn’t dry out your skin or come off in weird patches.

How to Use

Step 1: Exfoliate 24 hours prior to use. Immediately prior to application, moisturise any dry areas including elbows, knees, ankles and feet. Very important or you will look splotchy!

Step 2: For best results, apply using the Tan Applicator Mitt in long sweeping motions, starting at the ankles and working your way up. Then for your back, turn the mitt back to front and start applying in the same way.

Ensure all areas are covered before lightly gliding any excess tan from the Mitt over your hands and feet.

Step 3: Wait until touch dry before getting dressed. It won’t take long!

Step 4: Allow 4-8 hours before showering to reveal your developed tan. I prefer to sleep with it, but either way, in a few hours you will have a light natural tan!

Step 5: To prolong and maintain your tan, moisturise daily, exfoliate regularly and reapply as desired.

Bottom Line

St. Tropez Self Tan Classic Review
Immediately after applying on the right leg
The St. Tropez Self Tan is olive based, so you won’t find yourself looking like an oompaloompa, the one I have used is the classic version and if you want a really dark shade I recommend using the Express or the Dark versions which allow for a better control of your color. Otherwise, the Classic can be reapplied for a darker shade. Being pale white, the soft tan I get from it is quite enough giving me the glow I enjoy on my legs. The mousse formula is popular because it is light-weight and durable, but I might play around with formulas in the future (like liquid or cream).

Have you tried this Self-Tan? Do you use any? If so, which one?
