It almost seems like wider pants have become more popular after the skinny jeans drama a woman went through. And although many claimed skinny jeans would loose it’s popularity after the happening, that sure isn’t true. But one thing is certain – 70’s fashion trends have been slowly sneaking back into our closets for a while now. After all, fashion loves recycling!

The 70’s were marked with hippy love and freedom – it was all about peace and love, experimenting and having fun! And the fashion revolved strongly around maxis, flares, fringe, jeans and suedes.

Of course, when old trends come back… they return re-imagined! A quick look at the runways will show you that.

Wide Pants

High-waisted flared pants are the biggest player on the 70’s trend.  And it is surely one of the first things that come to your mind when you think of the decade’s fashion.

 Flared Pants Outfit

For the flared pants look I created this outfit board with several inspirations. You can go the more funky route of the left where I joined wider pants with another trend from the 70’s that is less known but just as popular – the fur coat! Here I used a more daring piece, but for that truly retro look you want to go for a  brown/beige/nude color and a longer fit.

On the right you can see typical high waisted flared jeans paired with a checkered shirt or a white T-shirt for something more casual. The fringed bag gives the perfect touch doesn’t it?

If you want to break off a bit on the 70’s vibe, you can add something more structured on top like that beautiful black jacket/blazer with zippers. Check the items for these outfits here and here.

A-LINE MINI SKIRTS

This cute mini skirt is easy to pair with anything! Add platform heels, ankle or under the knee boots and you have a theme going on. You can play with textures with the knit, leather, suede and fur without everything fighting too much! Check the individual items here: Link!

Denim

Denim was definitely everywhere in the 70’s!

70sDenim

Be it a looser skirt with under the knee boots, pants, a jeans shirt or that trusty old jacket you can rock these and find them easily nowadays too! Get that jeans jacket from the bottom of you or your mom’s wardrobe! Pair them with flowy-er items, like a dress or blouse, for a femenine contrast. Strappy sandals give it an extra modern touch as well.  Check items here: Link!

Maxi

Get comfortable with maxi dresses and skirts!

Maxi Skirts Dresses and Peasent Top

I love wearing maxi dresses or skirts. Choose flowy and strong prints for a more 70’s vibe. You can also choose crochet or something with cut-outs and transparency for something more modern. Add a peasent blouse with a maxi skirt for the ultimate combo – they are super in now! Sandals and a hat make it perfect for summer. See items here: Link!

Jumpsuits

Last but not least, the item you have been seeing everywhere.

You might be hesitant on adopting this piece into your daily wardrobe…don’t! It can look so cute, lilysimply is the perfect example. Check the jumpsuits here: Link!
